Sophie Cox – Great female technology entrepreneurs
Sophie Cox founded Worldeka, a social network for charities, NGOs and policy makers. She set up the company with her brother Charlie, and both have been placed in The Future 100, which recognises the top 100 young social entrepreneurs. Sophie also made The Next Women’s 49 most notable female internet heroes of 2009.
The site helps NGOs and policy makers to work together and make contact with other organisations. It enables them to share information, data and resources so ideas can be exchanged, events organised and emergency relief co-ordinated.
Sophie says she came up with the idea because, “I wanted to run a socially beneficial company that’s practices represented its goals, I wanted to build a brand that represented something important, and I wanted to create a profitable business – I feel in Worldeka we have managed to achieve this.”
